I have come to ShiftSetGo due to a desire to help people take back their health.   

The first time I remember being in charge of my own health was when a surgeon told me I needed a gallbladder operation. Not being fond of surgery, I looked up the cause of my condition and stopped eating all forms of fat. It has been 21 years and no surgery.   

I’ve managed to stay off all forms of medications by staying in tune with my body. I find healthy foods, exercise, and supplements to be the key.

In 2011 I had bloodwork done and knew from those results, I had to make some major lifestyle changes. As a Weight Watchers repeat offender, I tried ShiftSetGo, not knowing what to expect. I lost 75 pounds in just four and a half months and have never returned to that weight again.

I grew up in Eastern Washington. My husband and I moved to the Bellingham area in 2016 to be closer to our grown children and grandson. With my weight loss, I discovered a new love for hiking, and moving to Whatcom County has opened a whole new world of awesome trails and views. I have struggled with my weight and relationship with food most of my life. My house growing up always had a supply of soda and snacks galore. When I got pregnant with my son, I immediately started to focus more on what I was putting in my body. Then when it came time to lose the baby weight, it didn’t just fall off like it used to, and I knew I had to continue to change how I approached keeping myself and my family healthy.

I have an intimate relationship with sugar addiction, which led me to become a certified Pastry Chef! I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Las Vegas in 2014 and learned everything I possibly could about ingredients, food processing and nutrition. After years of working in the sugar industry, and seeing how it affected our customers, I am ready to help people be better informed about what they eat.

I grew up here in Bellingham, and although I’ve lived all over the states, I always knew I’d come back home to the beautiful PNW. I have a huge passion for Travel and learning about the foods and cultures from all over the globe. I love spending time outside with my son and dog or curling up with a good book, but I also love music, singing and dancing. Every new day is a new opportunity to experience what life has to offer!

Jennifer Hernandez 

Jennifer is a health coach whose passion for aiding others in accomplishing their personal weight loss goals shines through as she helps her clients not only transform physically, but through her personal coaching philosophy allows clients to reach deep inside to become the healthiest version of themselves possible. She believes with the right support, any goal is attainable. She is committed to teaching others the necessary skills to not only reach a goal, but to maintain it as well. Through mental and emotional transformation, you will not only see a permanent change in the mirror, but in personal discipline, and mindset. It is her hope, that with the right coaching, this will be the last weight loss program you will need. She began her journey in 2021 and has led in multiple areas of the healthcare field, however her true inspiration is found, and always will be, in coaching.

The struggle is very real. I get it. Growing up in a military family we had restrictive eating habits.  I was obsessed with food as a child, and when I became an adult, I finally had the freedom to choose whatever I wanted. I moved in 1995 to Seattle from Missoula, MT. after getting out of the military myself. I quickly fell into an unhealthy lifestyle burdened by social influences and bad eating habits. That lifestyle caught up with me, and when I obtained a job as a bus driver, the sedentary lifestyle allowed me to gain forty extra pounds. On a 4’10” frame I was severely obese. That started making me mentally unhealthy and I had to change.

I made the effort to lose weight on my own, but I struggled to get the last 20 lbs. off, so I hired a personal trainer. With help, I went well beyond my weight loss goals and ended up competing in a body-building competition at the age of 38, with a trophy in hand. I wasn’t going to stop winning. Moving forward I became a Certified Personal Trainer, started my own gym, and helped others who struggled with weight loss or just wanted to better themselves. I loved training and educating my clients. They now know what I know which is very empowering to them. Results are not always forthcoming though. You can be successful but not perfect. Hop on that horse and try again.

That is why I think working as a Wellness Coach for ShiftSetGo is very rewarding. As coaches, we give the clients the tools to overcome their struggles. We will take our knowledge and experience, and share it with our clients, making their experience just as rewarding and empowering.

I live too many years of my life overweight, overly self-conscious, and frustrated by my heritage. I began weight loss journeys as early as 16-years-old. I’d lose a little. Then regain a lot! Until the day I reached success through a shifted approach. I found a science-backed nutritional path with weekly accountability, with checkpoints for support. I learned to think like a healthy eater thinks—a shift from an “I can’t” mindset, to “I don’t”. I don’t eat skip my coaching appointments. I don’t sabotage my own weight loss goals. I don’t eat sugar.

Looking back, my journey to becoming a ShiftSetGo Health Coach was a work in progress for quite some time. Starting out as a CMA for a Gastroenterologist/Internal Medicine Doctor, I got to see the diagnosis and outcomes of what poor care of our digestive systems really does to our bodies. The most important piece I learned during this time was how we can control our health with the proper care and kindness to our digestive system.

I eventually transitioned to Leading and Screening Biometric Events all over the PNW and surrounding states. This new adventure taught me all about the “numbers”. Blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar (glucose/A1C), and body composition are real problems for so many.

Doing what I did for work was awesome and I loved my job, BUT I wanted to do more. I wanted to be able to come alongside people and help them reverse those numbers and to come off their medicines, have a full life, and feel better than they do when they walk in the door.

WA native, Miranda has earned her BA in Health Sciences with a concentration in Healthy Lifestyles and Fitness Science, earning Summa Cum Laude from ASU College of Health Solutions. 

After graduating, Miranda was eager to continue developing her coaching skills and start serving her local community with their health and wellness goals.
