Easy Low Sodium Taco Seasoning

Who needs store-bought when you can make your own low sodium taco seasoning quickly and easily at home. This flavorful blend uses simple ingredients you probably already have at home. It adds a warm, spicy flavor to everything from soups and casseroles to enchiladas and (you guessed it) tacos! This low sodium taco seasoning is way cheaper than the store-bought versions and lets you skip all the additives and salt found in most retail seasonings. Makes: Enough to season 8-9 ounces of protein

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ¼ tsp dried oregano

Instructions

  1. 1

Add all seasonings to small mason jar. Shake well to thoroughly combine.

  2. 2

Store in a cool, dry place.

Tips

Add 1 teaspoon of poultry seasoning to make a tasty seasoning to use with turkey or chicken. Make it your own! If you don’t like paprika, don’t use it. If you like your spices with a little extra kick, add in a bit more cayenne. If you’re following a recipe that calls for one packet of taco seasoning, use 2-3 TBSP of this blend. (2-3 TBSP = one store bought packet) Make lettuce-wrapped tacos with seasoned ground beef. For an extra kick, try adding a bit of this seasoning to our Hot Cheesy Taco Dip or Vegetable Chili Salad recipes! Make a big batch and store it in a cool, dry place in an airtight container for up to 6 months. SSG Notes (per serving) N/A
