Shift Mamas

The ShiftSetGo Mamas plan is aimed at helping new moms steadily lose weight while continuing to breastfeed. This involves more complex carbs and healthy fats than our regular program to support your milk supply and your baby.

Heads up! Always check in with your coach first if you’re interested in this program. They will work with you on an individual basis to ensure you are ready. Some factors your coach will look at include determining if you have an established milk supply and if you are at least 6 weeks postpartum.

There is no guesswork involved in this program—your personal coach will explain the daily requirement of carbohydrates, protein, and fats in detail. They will also closely monitor your progress throughout the duration of the program to help ensure your milk supply remains stable.

You can expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week with your fellow Mamas. Once you and your little one are done, you will then have the option of choosing a different ShiftSetGo plan. This will give you the opportunity to continue making healthy progress without sacrificing your much-needed energy supply!

Breastfeeding 101

Breastfeeding requires considerable energy and nutrients, with a breastfeeding mother needing approximately 500 additional calories per day. This amounts to one or two nutrient-dense healthy snacks. Nutrients such as protein, iron, calcium, and vitamins A, C, and D are all vital to a new mother’s health.

Breast milk constitutes a significant amount of nutrition for the first six months of a baby’s life. It is important to have a diet consisting of a variety of healthy foods to provide the best breastfeeding experience for a mother and her baby. Some examples include:

  • Leafy green vegetables (supplies vitamins A and C as well as iron and calcium)
  • Seasonal fruits (supplies vitamins and minerals)
  • Eggs (supplies protein and vitamin D)
  • Lots of water (becoming dehydrated happens quickly when producing milk!)
